A $1 million gift to John Carroll University will augment scholarships and financial aid for current and future students. James E., John O., and Dennis C. Winchester, corporate officers for The QUIKRETE Companies of Atlanta, Georgia, have chosen to make the generous contribution to the University’s Forever Carroll Campaign. All three brothers are John Carroll alumni.
James Winchester, chief executive officer of The QUIKRETE Companies, is a 1965 graduate of John Carroll. John “Jack” Winchester, a 1967 JCU alumnus, serves as co-chairman of the board of directors and treasurer of QUIKRETE. Dennis Winchester graduated from the University in 1970, and is co-chairman of the board of directors and the company’s secretary. The QUIKRETE Companies are the largest manufacturers of packaged concrete in the United States and an innovative leader in the commercial building and home improvement industries. The corporation has more than 94 manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Central America, and South America.
Jack Winchester noted the impact of scholarship assistance for his family, for whom a John Carroll education was a priority: “Our parents sacrificed everything to make sure we received a Jesuit education, and now that my brothers and I are in a position to pay it forward, we feel the Forever Carroll Campaign is the perfect opportunity.”
