John Carroll University has received a $2.25 million gift from William P. and Susan C. Donnelly to establish an endowed scholarship fund. The couple made their gift to support the University’s Forever Carroll Campaign and to give future John Carroll students the opportunity to pursue their academic, service, and professional goals.
Mr. and Mrs. Donnelly (“Bill and Sue”), who are, respectively, 1983 and 1984 graduates of John Carroll, have named their contribution in honor of Mr. Donnelly’s parents. It will be known as the William J. and Eileen C. Donnelly Endowed Scholarship.
Bill Donnelly is the executive vice president of METTLER TOLEDO, a global manufacturer and marketer of precision instruments for use in laboratory and industrial applications. He joined METTLER TOLEDO in 1997. Previously, Mr. Donnelly held various management positions with Elsag Bailey and Price Waterhouse.
Mr. Donnelly has served as a member of John Carroll’s Board of Directors since 2011. He and Mrs. Donnelly have actively supported JCU. “We’re very happy to be involved in the Forever Carroll Campaign, as Sue and I feel that every child should have the opportunity for a quality education and tuition assistance is important,” said Mr. Donnelly. “We believe in the goals of the Campaign: scholarships, enriching the academic experience, building on Jesuit heritage, and enhancing the student experience.”
The Donnellys have four children, including their son, Connaught, a JCU Class of 2010 graduate, and their daughter, Grace, who is a member of JCU’s Class of 2016.
